What’s your name? Nickname?
Beau Carrillo aka “El Matador”
Where were you born & raised?
Born in Southern California and raised in Spokane, Washington.
What’s your favorite Kombucha Town flavor? Why?
Green Jasmine because it has a great floral element and I love green tea. It always gives me a nice little boost of energy after a long day out in the hills.
What did you want to be before you grew up?
I am a climber and guide. I have a life goal to see the many beautiful mountain ranges of the world. I love the movement and calm I find in the mountains. I get most excited about going to new places to express my art. For me, climbing is as much about exploring the world as it is about exploring the true expressions of the self. Having a worthwhile goal and volunteering for physical and mental hardship will undoubtedly bring the good, the bad, and the ugly out of most people. Climbing forces us to face these emotions and see the positive thread in any occurrence or situation. I wanted to be a counselor when I was young…then I grew up and discovered that I do that all the time as a guide, only in spectacular settings.
How do you make a positive difference in your average day?
I try to be selfless and put energy toward the wellbeing of other people.
If you could travel anywhere in the world for a week, where would it be?
A week is not nearly enough time. My next big trip is coming up in summer 2016; I will have 30 days to complete the journey. My girlfriend and I will be traversing the Alps from Switzerland to Italy on bike, and climbing 7 classic alpine rock objectives. We have applied for a grant from the American Alpine Club to help fund the unthinkable amount of calories we will consume on the journey.
